The ERL-KING
Spring, Serbia, 1999. Eight-year-old Sava and his mother live in a Belgrade high-rise, while his father is away at sea. Their life is disrupted by NATO bombing, leading to fear and anxiety. The school closes, and the air raid shelter becomes Sava’s new home. His crush, Milica, leaves the country with her family.
During the chaos, Sava’s mother struggles to cope, and Sava flees into the bombed streets, returning with a mysterious loss of hearing and speech that doctors cannot explain. Isolated and unable to communicate, Sava withdraws from everyone.
Milica’s father, a local priest, takes Sava and his family to a remote monastery, hoping the countryside will heal him. Instead of peace, they face new challenges. The priest attempts to fill the void left by Sava's absent father but struggles with his own crisis of faith and inability to help the boy.
