Film Premiere of “Challenge” in Belgrade
An utterly unpredictable plot, shooting locations in several European countries, the biggest global and local actors starring – this is the briefest description of Season 2 of the most watched Serbian project ‘South Wind’. The premiere of 12 new episodes of the TV series titled ‘ON THE EDGE’ took place in March and April 2023 on RTS and SUPERSTAR.
The latest instalment in the series, ‘South Wind – On the Edge’ by series creator Miloš Avramović and writer Petar Mihajlović, deals with conflicts between major powers – Russia, America, and Europe; criminal ties and corruption; and conflicted interests, all centering around Serbia and our heroes.
The series again follows Serbian drug kingpin Petar Maraš, whose business is increasingly threatening his very existence, filmed across locations in Serbia, Croatia and Russia, as well as the border areas of Italy and Finland.
The international cast is made of Hollywood and Russian stars William Baldwin, Eric Roberts, Oxana Akinshina and Aleksey Guskov, alongside well-known Italian Pasquale Esposito; the local cast is led by Miloš Biković, Miodrag Radonjić, Miki Manojlović, Jovana Stojiljković, Aleksandar Berček, Bogdan Diklić, Milica Gojković, Tamara Krcunović, Andrija Kuzmanović and Stefan Kapičić.
The quality of the series is further confirmed by it being the first project from the Balkans that was awarded with TV series funding in the Creative Europe MEDIA subprogramme ‘TV and online content’ category.
The ‘South Wind – ‘ON THE EDGE’ series was filmed by REŽIM and ARCHANGEL DIGITAL STUDIOS and co-produced by TELEKOM SRBIJA and RTS, FILM DISTRICT, ARCHANGEL STUDIOS, TELEFILM (Croatia) and A-LAB production (Italy), and supported by partners MEDIASLOVO and OKKO.
